Any corporation organized in the United States shall be eligible for membership in the Association provided such organization exports goods from or imports goods into the United States; deals in goods for export or import; engages in providing services to the American international trade community; or is otherwise commercially interested in the promotion of expanded international trade.

Membership dues are grouped into seven categories: Importer/Exporter, Law Firm, Customs Broker/Freight Forwarder, Trade Service, Port Authority, and Trade Association (and related organizations).

AAEI dues are calculated annually based upon the combined total imports and exports of a company. One corporate or company membership extends to all subsidiaries and business units. Multiple divisions within a company join under one membership with the combined dollar value of volume of imports and exports representing the total business volume of the enterprise. Any single membership taken by any subsidiary or business unit must reflect the totals generated by all units of the company in all aspects of its business. The word “member” refers to a Member Company and includes all persons who are representatives and part of the organization established as a corporation or partnership.

Law Firms, Customs Brokers/Freight Forwarders, and Trade Services
AAEI dues are calculated annually based upon the number of employees handling trade within the firm or company. The membership extends only to those individuals within the member company on record. Any single membership taken by any subsidiary or business unit of an organization must reflect the total number of employees of that organization handling trade. The word “member” refers to a Member Company and includes only those persons who are representatives and part of the organization handling trade.

Port Authorities, Trade Associations, and related organizations
AAEI dues are calculated annually at $500 per port or per trade association.
